Opelle hand-made bags from Toronto | Sabrina Smelko

With autumn around the corner (and approaching quicker than Piper eats my table scraps), it’s time to switch up the old wardrobe.

Arguably everyone’s favorite season for fashion, fall makes wardrobes easy — and Opelle makes beautiful bags that hold all your stuff. (Psst, discount code and clothing sources below.)

Hand-made in Toronto, I discovered Opelle in the midst of a late-night internet search for a new purse: I wanted to support a local brand, but I didn’t want to compromise on style or quality; I wanted a beautiful bag, but one that was still substantial enough to handle my abuse; I wanted a bag that was neutral and simple on the outside, but one that offered enough compartments for all my things. Yes, my criteria was quite rigid, and Opelle’s gorgeous selection of small-batch bags created using top-grain natural leathers sourced in Italy, Germany and Spain passed my very critical list of needs — and even a few bonus features I didn’t know I had.

It took some humming and hawing, but eventually I settled on their Lotus Bag in black with brass hardware — which, as it turns out, was the very first Opelle bag that founder Amy Malcolm designed. It’s classic, functional and beautiful, and I must add that it’s quite the chameleon. It pairs just as well with cut-offs and a tee as it does a dress. The size is also spot-on for me. It’s not too bulky or heavy, but it’s still large enough to hold, say, big coffee table books or a laptop.

Today, I’m sharing two different outfits I wore this week that went awesome with this lovely bag, and just because you deserve some Friday goodness, Opelle is offering you 15% off your purchase when you use the code “xolotus”!
